How to save money on your holiday shopping

How to survive the holiday shopping season without busting your budget or going crazy.

After the peaceful thanksgiving days are over and done with, the crazy holiday shopping kicks off. If you weren’t so lucky on Black Friday (or you just didn’t want to be in the middle of the craziness) then here are some helpful ways on how to save money on your holiday gifts. Nothing wrong with saving some money on the things they will love and your wallet will love you too.

It might be because I am a business major but it really helps to make a plan/list: Write down everyone you plan to buy a gift for. Include ideas of what to give each person, along with the maximum amount you’re willing to spend. Don’t forget to list the people who will receive holiday tips, such as your doorman, babysitter, and mail carrier. This will help you manage your holiday budget.

Yes, Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring along great deals, but don’t be fooled, other online sites have great deals year around and with a couple clicks you can even get cash back on the already discounted items you are going to buy anyway.

Sign up for Ebates:

Signing up for Ebates is super simple. Just for signing up and making a $25 purchase at a online store of your choice you will receive a $10 gift card from stores like Macy’s, Best Buy etc. Here you go, you got your first $10. Then every time you want to buy something online, log on to your ebates site, type in the store you would like to buy something from and ebates tracks your ticket. After you purchased your item you will get the cash back in your ebates account. Super simple. I have already gotten 4 checks and over $50 cash back.

Check out normorerack.com:

Ebates even gives you Cash back for online stores like Nomorerack.com which already offers products for limited amounts of time for about 50-70% OFF. I love Nomorerack.com. I have bought so many things from there and I just love it. My juicer came from there and about 20 other things I recently bought and of course I always get my cash back from ebates with my purchases from nomorerack as well:) Double saving!!:)) The part I especially like is that nomorerack has flat shipping for only $2 and often for a 3hour period even for free. This is amazing for bigger purchases like for example my juicer:)

Sell things on ebay:

Sell your old things on ebay. This is an easy way to get some extra cash for the holidays and pretty much hassle free. If you have things like books, clothes etc,. that you don’t need anymore, just put it up for buy it now or an auction on ebay.

Barter via online chat. When you’re shopping online, look for a “chat” or “live help” button. Tell the customer service rep you’d like to shop with them but you want a 15% discount. Ask them to check with their manager or you will abandon your shopping cart and click over to their competitor. This won’t work all of the time, but when it does it will save you money and doing this online is way easier than doing it in person for most people.

Find discount codes. I never buy anything online without trying to find a discount code first. I’ve literally saved hundreds of dollars and it doesn’t take more than a minute. Simply go to RetailMeNot.com, SecretPrices.com, and FreeShipping.org to pull up all of the available discounts for your store. Use the discount code during the checkout process to get free shipping or to save 20% or more.

Groupon

Groupon has great local deals for Spa Treatments or Events and discounted restaurant certificates. They also have amazing goods and products now and the shipping is fast and convenient.

As you can see, there are so many ways that you can make your loved ones happy this year without going broke:)
