Bologna with Sauerkraut

This is also one of my favorite German dishes. I absolutely love Sauerkraut!! (I know, I know, this is also a huge stereotype for Germans:)!) and the combination with the bologna is amazing. It does taste better when using a German bologna but it also works fine with regular bologna you can find in the stores here. You can even buy bologna slices but I would suggest choosing the thick cut if they don’t have the bologna rings. This recipe is also quickly made if you are in a rush and you can eat it the next day as well:)

Ingredients:1 ring bologna (1lb. or more cut into small pieces)
1 bag(can) of sauerkraut (32 oz. do not drain)
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 Tbsp butter
2 garlic gloves
1/2 tsp caraway seed
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
paprika

In a skillet, saute onions, chopped garlic, caraway seed, salt and pepper. Add the bologna on top and saute it as well. Then add the sauerkraut and the vinegar and sugar. Sprinkle with paprika. Cover and let it simmer on medium low for another 5 minutes. Enjoy!
